{Life Update}

Hey guys...so I've been a terrible blogger lately! Wendel and I have a lot going on in our little life lately...so I thought I'd fill you all in!

As some of you know...I graduated with an education degree and struggled with getting a full time teaching position last year...like couldn't even get one interview struggled.

I ended up getting a long term sub position (which turned into a real gig) as a K-6 art teacher at a Catholic school in the area. It was a huge blessing working with an extremely uplifting, and collaborative staff and principal. But unfortunately they did not have a general education position available for the next year (I could have taught art, but I felt that I needed to be teaching general education since that's my certification)

So the hunt continued.

There were so many emotions that I was going through.

Anxiety because finding a job is so stressful in today's economy.

Worthlessness that I am not providing for our little family even though we are very blessed that Alex has such an amazing job.

Frustration that I haven't be able to find a job while all of my teacher friends were finishing their first year of teaching in their very own classroom.

Sadness that maybe education isn't where God is leading me. Dramatic, I know...but when you go through a year and a half of not doing what you think you've been called to do...it's makes you second guess for sure.

Thankfully, I have a supportive husband and family who was so wonderful to pick me up and make me feel better.

I was also blessed with a WONDERFUL principal who showed me that I'm valuable to a staff, and that I am good at what I do!

Well thankfully I got a few interviews this year...about time right? The first two I didn't get....and then I finally got a job offer that is perfect for me!

So I can officially say that I am the lead PreK teacher at Bluebird Preschool in my hometown. It is a non-denominational Christian preschool that prepares students for a very intense and high achieving school system. My job is to create a non-stressful learning environment for my students and get them extremely prepared for Kindergarten! I'm up to my ears in ideas and things to do and get to start on my classroom Monday morning! So excited!

Thank you to everyone who has been encouraging and supportive over the past year and a half. Your sweet words and praises has made this transitional period bearable. I am excited, thrilled, and anxious to get started!

So what will this mean for my little blog? I will continue to DIY and blog about it! My goal is to blog at least 3 times per week! We are continuing on in our home updates and will have lots of pictures and tutorials/stories along the way! I also want to start blogging more about married life and ideas for how to stay as connected and happy as us newlweds!

Most importantly...I have a whole week of updating on our DIYing adventures. Our office is looking TOTALLY different and we are obsessed!! I also totally blanked on  updating you on my Pinterest Challenge...so I will do that next week too!

Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. So happy for you: Congrats on the new job! Those little kiddies better watch out because they don't know how much fun is coming for them with Mrs. Lelia!! Reading this blog reminded me of you reading some kiddie book about a frog to me in our dorm room freshman year- you're in just the right place, Lelia. You were made for this :)
