{The Wendels Do Mexico}

In the midst of traveling craziness, we were able to fit in a real vacation, just us two.

Actually...we had this planned back in February...it just worked out that everything fell around it!

So off we flew to the Excellence Resort in Playa de Mujeres nestled in gorgeous Cancun, Mexico.

And ya'll...it was heaven! This was right outside of our back porch...incredible!

Right behind me...yup...that's a lazy river.

We did a whole lot of nothing really. We did a lot of laying by the pool, a little beach relaxing, lots of naps and movie afternoons, a few work outs, way more eating than was necessary, and I tried every single drink they knew to make trying to find one I liked...and eventually...I did.

Dinner by the pool. We were in awe of the people who would be in the pool until 7:30...freaking nuts! There's no way...by 3:00 I'm over it. Ready for a shower and a nap...but I applaud the people who can spend all day outside in the sun...go you!

The mango tango ya'll...it's incredible! I had far, far too many of them!

My sweet, precious husband!

We took a little bike ride around the estate...excuse the crazy eyes!

We ended up in a little parrot sanctuary on the property...and we got to hold a flippin' parrot! Crazy!

At the top of this random tower on the estate.

Nope...not a backdrop ya'll.

This was my spot ya'll...I dream of relaxing back at that spot with a mango tango!

Quiet times in the mornings with our little pet...we named in Norman...and he was a funny little thing. Showed up every.single.morning.

Wendel and I got our first couples massage and it was heaven! It was the funniest thing seeing Alex in a white robe...I could have died!

Our last day, I was determined to do everything possible! We didn't do everything on this list...but a decent amount...I was impressed!

And then in the blink of an eye, it was time to go...so so sad!

Oh, and we have to rub it in a little more with pictures of the resort...so incredible!

These little floating beds were straight from heaven. Oh and FYI this is where we relaxed pretty much everyday! We could relax in the chairs, dip our toes in the water, and when it got crazy hot swim around and lay in those hammocks to the top left. It was perfection!

We will have a light like this in our home sometime...I'm already scheming!

The lobby and martini bar...and ya'll...I tried martinis...no no no no.

It was absolutely amazing!

So thankful that we invested the time and money into this vacation.

Has anyone ever been to this resort? Or been to one we need to check out?

{Travel...Travel...Travel}

We had the summer of travel.

We thought last year we had crazy traveling with Ireland, but this year was crazy

Seven weekends in a row crazy.

I roughly added that we traveled about 4,000 miles not including Mexico.

A lot of car time.

But we were able to see lots of friends, spend time with family, get back to the good old days of long drives together, and became pros at packing/unpacking and doing laundry!

Here's a quick recap of what our summer looked like...

Weekend 1: Greenville, Tennesee

We started out by traveling to Greenville, Tennessee to see one of my very best friends from college get married!

We drove down with sweet Amber {or Amanda...whichever you'd prefer} who lives in Louisville.

Sweet, precious friends for the rehearsal dinner! This is all of us minus, Courtney who wasn't able to make it.

My forever wedding date.

Amber and I were greeters...how beautiful are those flowers?

Not the greatest picture, but oh well! She was such a stunning bride and we had such a fun time dancing the night away!

One last breakfast together before saying goodbye until the next wedding :)

Weekend 2: Asheville with the Wendors

Wendel, the in-laws, and I met Alex's sister and her husband {who live in Atlanta} in Asheville for a relaxing weekend. We rented the most idyllic cabin in the woods and had so much fun soaking up the nature and all that Asheville had to offer!

You may remember that Wendel and I went to Asheville over spring break, so it was fun to check things out again!

Our last day in Asheville, we headed to The Grove Park Inn for brunch and exploring.

Wendel and I will be back to stay at this hotel...but first...win the lottery!

Weekend 3: Birmingham For Courtney's Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party

I flew to Birmingham to celebrate my precious best friend and college roommate, Courtney, for her bridal shower and bachelorette party. I helped to host her bridal shower, so it was a busy weekend, but we had an absolute blast!

The out-of-town bridesmaids...loved getting to know them!

Fourth Weekend: Birmingham {Again} For Terra's Wedding

It was the summer of weddings for my sweet friends! My dear, precious Terra got married Fourth of July weekend.

While we were in town, we got to see our precious "sweetmate", April!

It was the most incredible day! It was breezy, sunny, and so not Birmingham-like.

Another stunner of a bride!

This is all of us! I absolutely adore these women!

Fifth and Sixth Weekend: Mexico...but that's for another day :)

Seventh and Final Weekend: Courtney's Wedding

It was amazing to go out with a bang celebrating my precious best friend! It was such a fun weekend...can we do it again?

Photo bombed :)

And that rounds out the traveling...except for Mexico...I'll be back on Wednesday with a huge post on the amazing times we had!
